What CatalogGuard stores
- Your store's domain, time zone and product count.
- Snapshots of your product catalogue: products, variants, collections, product and variant metafields, images by reference (their addresses and alt text, never the files), and inventory quantities per location. Snapshots are merchant data at rest: they are stored encrypted on our server's volume.
- Run records: what each restore would change or changed, what was recreated, what was left alone, the snapshot taken before it so it can be undone, and its report.
What it does not store
CatalogGuard requests no access to orders or customers and stores no customer or order data of any kind. It stores no image or theme files.
When data is deleted
Snapshots are kept for your plan's retention period (7, 30, 90 or 365 days) and then deleted, the newest always kept. When you uninstall the app, nothing new is taken, and everything stored for your store, snapshots and run records included, is deleted within 48 hours, when Shopify sends the uninstall notice.
Where data is processed
The app runs on a server in the United States.
Support mail you send to support@catalogguardhq.com is received in our business mailbox; a copy is forwarded to our transactional mail provider so that a ticket can be filed and acknowledged within a minute. Support requests may be processed with AI assistance to prepare a reply, on operator-controlled hardware or through an AI provider's API, to the same standard as the operator reading their own business mailbox, and are never shared for any other purpose. Every reply is read and sent by a person.
Support messages are kept, with your store's identity replaced by a code and with no customer details, to improve the quality of replies. This retention survives uninstalling the app; write to support to have your messages removed.
Who runs it
CatalogGuard is made and run by Ubuntu Life LLC. Write to support@catalogguardhq.com for any question about your data.
